One Day, three new Dogs

Three dogs

Even though he was not in a good condition, Droopy had to stay some days in Livadia, before we could find a place for him to stay, he is now staying at a foster home.

A little Puppy found himself dumped at the NOP, maybe a surprise for him, not so much for us!

Sam was living close to some unfinished houses,  an animal friend agreed to feed him there, because we were unable to take him in right away. But when some neighbours went looking for him, because he had chewed some of their shoes, we took him in…

Molos Beach

MolosOn May 17th, the same day PAWS held its annual general assembly, we had to pick up 5 puppies at Molos Beach. They had been there for more than 24 hours, without shade, without water or food. Nadine D., who just got elected as a PAWS board member that same day, helped picking them up. They have also already left to Germany.

Puppies in June: Figures no better!

Friday, June 12th, 2009

In June, so far 16 very young puppies with eyes still closed were found in the garbage. When will this madness be stopped? Who will help us?
The first ones were found near Audiophile, where the road turns to Kakapetra. The young woman who picked them up started bottlefeeding them. She was surprised when she found out how much time is needed for this job! Luckily, the pups were then adopted by a female dog that is being kept at a PAWS foster home.
The second litter was found by a hotel receptionist near Paroikia. The man was shocked and close to tears when we picked up the pups. They were put to sleep.
The third litter was found by a young Parian businessman (Furniture) near Isterni. He was very disturbed about his discovery. They were put to sleep.
The fourth ones were found in a plastic bag (tied shut) by a Belgian Plummer and animal friend near Naoussa. At the moment, his wife is trying to bottlefeed the pups. The photo shows the pups that were lucky enough to be adopted by the female dog.Fanny & Pups

MaybeLets start way back, on the 6th of May. Maybe, a female dog,  found some animal friends who took care of her for some days, unfortunately she decided to have a chicken snack at their neighbours, she had to leave. She was easy to rehome and is already in Germany with her new family. You could say FOUND-SAVED-REHOMED-PAWS

Where do those dogs come from???

Since 2006 4 similar dogs have been found abandonned in or near Punda. Please let us know if you know of someone who owns a dog who could be related to any of these dogs.Punda Griffon

LefkesThis dog,  like too many others,  had to spend all his life on a chain in the middle of nowhere, he had no shade, at times no water. His old owner was not able to take care of him any longer. He was reported to Stella, another new Board member, and is now very happy to run around with the other dogs at BarBigs.

BobbyWe got a phone call from a teacher who was very worried about a Puppy that had showed up at the school. When we saw the dog, we knew why, he had some big wounds on his back that needed treatment. He is now recovering at BarBigs
