101 Dalmatian Mixes

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

0-dalmi-1.jpg 0-dalmi2.jpg Fortunately, there were only 2 of them so far. The first one was sighted about 2 weeks ago near Salon de Beaute, but it was shy and Barbara could not find it. Then, on Nov 22, there was a phone call and Barbara had to pick up a dog near Hotel Aegean that had been hit by a car. The dog turned out to be a very large pup and was badly injured on her hind leg and her spine. She must have had some internal injuries as well, because she died the same night. Today, Barbara saw and collected a second one, same characteristics but male, near Agios Arsenios and took him to her place. He had been hiding in the bushes, obviously lost and alone. The Vet agrees that there is no doubt that the 2 are from the same litter. Age (about 5-6 months), extraordinary size and weight for the age, colouring. Who knows a possible mother of this litter?? The first pictuer shows the unfortunate female, picture two the lucky male.

Can things get any worse?

rasta-sm.jpg After Biggie broke her foot, we thought our luck could only change for the better. Then the lightning hit Barbaras computer. Last Friday, Rasta (photograph), Barbaras favorite dog, died after having severe seizures. Now we really hope that we have reached the bottom.

Tough Luck

0-luckybig.jpg When Biggie carried Bicycle Dog out to spray him with Flea Repellent, she stumbeld and fell, broke a little bone in her foot. One day before her departure to Germany and her well-earned holidays. Here she is at the Vet’s getting Luckypups first vaccination.

Bicycle Dog – Walking Handbag

Monday, November 12th, 2007

0-podilato.jpg 0-podilato-1.jpg  This young male dog was very lucky when on Sunday afternoon a cyclist coming all the way from Isterni found him near Voutakos lying and barking just off the road. He had been injured and was grotesquely limping, practically paralized. The man carried him with his bicycle to Aliki and fed him with Spaghetti. It seems like a coincidence -but can this really be called a coincidence? – that Barbara and Biggie happened to be right there, once and only then this year, and took the little dog home. It looks like his injury to the spine is not so serious and that he will be fine in a week or so. Let’s hope for the best! In the mean time he can go for a small round, hind legs supported like a handbag. So should we call him Podilato or Gucci?
