This heat is an ordeal not only for humans, also for our 4-legged companions. We are lucky that we can use this rainwaterbasin at a friends house close by for the dogs to cool down after their daily walk.

PAWS was adverted by the Sailing Club NOP, that there was a puppy full of ticks on their grounds. Barbara went to pick it up and found out that there had been a second puppy, which had disappeared in the meantime…. easy to understand where to….

Barbara wanted to buy a watermelon but they were sold out. Instead she met 2 young Americans who had found a small puppy covered in ticks on the beach in Livadia. They would like to adopt the puppy but were not allowed to take it into their hotel. At the moment it is being kept at BBs

A farmer’s wife asked Barbara’s mother to come and pick up a unwanted puppy. At 3-4 months, it was hiding in a shed, panicked, had not had any friendly contact with humans obviously. It could not be picked up on the first day, but Biggie was able to catch it on the second day. It is now staying at Barbigs and doing much better already.

Negro

Read about the ongoing issue with Negro

NegroYo!

My name’s Negro and, well, let’s just say that my life hasn’t been easy! My owner was a real wacko, sort of a delinquent you might say…he wasn’t very nice-especially to me. Anyway things got better when he took off (to jail!) but since then I’ve been kinda wanderin’ around the streets of Paroikia relying on the kindness of strangers. Guess I was sort of a bad boy, too, until one really sweet lady took me to the doggie doctor. I admit that it’s strange now being without certain parts of my, you know…masculinity, but I’ve sure calmed down! I’m actually pretty good company now!

Oh, I forgot, I have to take pills now, too. They just put them in my food.

So, hey! If there’s someone out there who believes that beauty is only skin deep, maybe you could help me out. I’m not askin’ for much…just three square meals a day, and, well…a little love wouldn’t be so bad!

Frightened young male taken from Parasporos

After phonecalls by residents living close by Minois Village who only spent a few days and left again for Athens, BarBig picked up a very frightened male stray that had been there for some time. He is not yet able to share a space with any other dog and is therefore unfortunately occupying more than his share of shade and space….

One week later he is integrated with the other dogs and has made a lot of progress with humans.

Last night a 6 month old male, 50cm shoulderheight, was picked up on the back road wandering in the middle of the road alone, without a collar. He is now at BarBigs (Barbara and Biggie). Has someone lost this beautiful dog?

More puppies left next to garbage

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Last night two young and frightened puppies were left near a garbage disposal bin close to Asclipios. They were lucky – before they were hit by a passing car somebody picked them and contacted PAWS. Shortly after, they were picked up and taken care of by BB. They were in a terrible state and covered by hundreds of ticks. One wonders what their (most certainly privately owned) mother looks like?
